JANUARY 2012

Suppliers currently using our GXS/OLV Procure to Pay system will be transitioning over the 1st quarter of 2012 to the new internal P2P Supplier Order Management Portal. Until you are contacted to transition to the new Supplier Order Management Portal, continue to use the current communication method for Order Management. Processes for Suppliers currently managing orders via Integrated EDI will not change. This new portal provides a tremendous increase in functionality where suppliers can manage their orders and most of their Procure to Pay transactions including: manage orders, create invoices and request domestic material transportation pick ups.  If you are a supplier currently using our GXS/OLV software, you will be contacted sometime over the next few months about transitioning to the new Supplier Order Management Portal. We are very excited about the benefits and enhancements of this new system as it will further enhance the communication between Amway and our suppliers.

Updates to the Supplier Quality Requirements Manual:

September 1, 2011 is the supplier compliance enforcement date for updated policies within Amway's Packaging and Security Requirements, and Shelf Life and Inventory Control Requirements that are summarized below. Please review the Supplier Quality Requirements Manual (Sections 4.6 Packaging & Package Security Requirements, and 4.8 Shelf Life and Inventory Control Requirements) under the Quality Section of the Business Requirements (on left side of page).

Shelf Life Requirement: Materials received by Amway must have at least 50% of their Shelf Life remaining, at time of receipt.  In cases where suppliers cannot meet the 50% shelf life guideline to fulfill open orders, suppliers must gain the prior approval, and document this agreement on the Supplier's Certificate of Analysis (to avoid rejection at Incoming Inspection). Amway currently has a 75% Shelf Life guideline for materials with a final destination of India. In cases where materials have a final destination of India, Amway will communicate this 75% shelf life requirement to suppliers, at (or prior to) order placement.

Tamper-Evident Packaging Requirement: To ensure product integrity and guard against the possibility of adulteration, Amway requires TAMPER-EVIDENT seals and features on all raw material, chemical and component packaging forms.

For a complete description of Amway's Supplier Quality Requirements, please review the Supplier Quality Requirements Manual (Sections 4.6 Packaging & Package Security Requirements, and 4.8 Shelf Life and Inventory Control Requirements) under the Quality Section of the Business Requirements (on left side of page).

Please view the Domestic Routing Guide (Prepaid) and the Packaging, Pallet/Palletizing Requirements in the Shipping section under Business Requirements on the left side of the page for these updated requirements.

  • A strong, durable container capable of containing the contents during transport and storage is required. For hazardous raw materials the requirement should also state, UN-POP. Any palletized items would need to be wrapped or banded to avoid shifting off the pallet.

NOVEMBER 2010

As Amway continues to increase our focus on Quality, we have decided to change the structure and calculation of our Supplier Quality Metric.  We are striving to establish a Supplier Quality Metric that:

  • Accurately measures the Quality of incoming materials from our Supply base
  • Provides Scorecard Reporting that provides the necessary information to understand Quality issues and improve the Quality Metric Score

With these goals in mind, we are implementing a new Supplier Quality Metric titled Right First Time (RFT) Quality Metric.

The Right First Time Quality Metric will be implemented December 6th, 2010. At that time, all Supplier Analytics Dashboard Reports will be updated with the Right First Time Quality Metric.

Full explanations of the Metric Calculation Method and Metric Report differences are provided in the below 2 communication/training tools located in the Performance Evaluation page under Supply Management.

Amway was recently awarded one of PSC's (Procurement Strategy Council) 2010 Force of Ideas Award for our Strategy Expectation Reboot Practice.
